Women2Work
Women2Work is a labor market activation and female empowerment project geared toward immigrants, asylum seekers and other newcomers, and specifically those who have a higher fluency in Dutch.
As our other projects evolved, we noticed a distinct difference in prior knowledge and fluency in Dutch, and as such Women2Work was born in an effort to give more women the opportunity to learn and perhaps take their first steps on the Belgian labor market.
Women2Work has the goal to aid our students in growing their confidence, as well as provide some duly-needed skills and knowledge, so they may take their first steps onto the labor market unencumbered and without fear. Empowering women with a migration background is an intrinsic part of our organization’s DNA.
The project is geared toward women who have a higher fluency in Dutch, as well as some prior educational experience and perhaps even some work experience, and our goal is to reach twenty women each semester.
Women2Work has three phases: theory lessons, external volunteer work and personal coaching, and company visits, roundtables and workshops. Unique to Women2Work is the final phase in which we provide a bevy of workshops and lectures, as well as company visits and roundtable conversations.
This project will have an enormous impact on personal and professional development, activating women and increasing their self-confidence, and helping them stand on their own feet. The Women2Work project is about providing equal opportunities to build a career, and we believe that every woman deserves this chance.
Women2Work was established with the support and expertise of the Institute for the Equality of Women and Men, the Belgian federal government, and the European Union through the Bread & Roses project. In 2024-2025, this project was made possible in part by the City of Antwerp.
